Security: The Sporting Club is surrounded by a fence and the gate is locked. Staff is on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Security does not appear to be a problem.
Berths: Boats are moored bow or stern-to floating docks with wooden piles in the water. A few moorings are to a concrete dock in an open unsheltered area.
Facilities: Sporting Club has a big clubhouse with a reception office, heads and showers. The bar and restaurant is open on weekends during the winter.
Water: Water is turned off in the winter on all floating pontoons
Electricity: Posts are on or near each mooring. Outlets are 10 Amps. Electricity use is metered and charged extra.
Tide: In Chioggia the normal tidal range is 1 meter. “Aqua alta” (extremely high tide) occurs several times a year (normally during October and November) and floods some of the streets in town. You will need at least knee high rubber boots to reach the main street, Corso del Publico, when this occurs. The island which the boat club is located on is rarely flooded. The water level in the club is at least 2 m even in low tide.
Shelter: Boats placed in the canal and in the outer part of the marina are protected in a bora. The moorings along the outer concrete dock are very uncomfortable, with surge and swell.
Weather: October and November are normally bright, sunny, and dry. December through February will bring lots of damp and foggy days, some rain, and occasionally light snow and ice. In March it is sometimes warm enough for exterior boat projects.
Haul out: We will try to talk to with the fishing port as well as to Marina Nautecmare in Monfalcone, approx. 50 miles to the east. To be updated.

RyanAir use Treviso Airport, easily reached by direct bus from Piazzale Roma.
Grocery shopping: Corso del Popolo hosts the daily fish market (some stalls open Sunday, all are closed on Monday). Excellent selection and prices. The vegetable markets are across the canal from the fish market, as well as butchers, bakeries and several small grocery stores. There is a Sisa on Corso del Popolo and a smaller Issima on XXX. INs on XXX sells bulk products including cheap wine. Bargains to be found at Lidl in Sottomarina, XXX. There is a large PAM in Sottomarina and a somewhat smaller just south of central Chioggia. Lots of small stores all over town. On our island ther is a fruit market and a tiny grocery store owned by Roberto, a very friendly man who sells excellent Parma prosciutto.
